Is there any way to make those droplists quickly, similarly to how one would just drag a cell to populate a range with the same formula? Or am I doomed to make all 1200+ droplitsts manually?

Copy/Paste should work for this. Did you try that?

Copy/Paste does not work for that. It causes multiple cells to use the same range for the droplist, which is not desired.

As for apps script knowledge - I did use it extensively, though almost never to do things that were technically possible without them. I genuinely forgot that the Class DataValidation existed. Sorry for the hassle
