Off topic: Fake traffic generator

Today, someone decided to bomb my website with fake traffic from this source: trafficbot.life

It generated A LOT of fake visits from all over the world. After digging a bit, I realised that this is actually a serious business online... people are paying to increase the volume of their website traffic using fake/generated hits.

Have any of you experienced this before?

I knew such things existed after a similar experience with one of my sites. Seems a wide market for this sort of thing with other 'services' like adding followers to social media accounts

I wonder why someone would try to "help" me then by sending this fake traffic my way.

The only thing they succeeded in doing is messing up my bounce rate and that looks like plain malice. Google and co. should block these services.

that I don't know, but sometimes it can be linked to Google Ad fraud (you are the innocent party in this). You'll find various resources for Google Analytics for tips on filtering out fake display traffic using segments
