I am trying to unravel a problem with a teacher who had a shared folder that included work from graduated students.  The student accounts were deleted, and they had not transferred ownership to the teacher, so the files are gone.

I don't know which accounts owned the files, so is there a way I could discover based on the folder ID any files that were trashed or removed and who owned them?  Then I could restore those users, files, and transfer the ownership.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to unravel this.

thanks!

Check Drive Audit log for trash or remove from folder events around the time when the accounts were deleted. It will give you an idea.

Restore your accounts sooner than later because you only have 20 days.

Menko,

Try: gam report drive filter "doc_id==<DriveFileID>"

Replace <DriveFileID> with the ID of the shared folder.

Thanks all!  Got that part done, always appreciate the commands and immediate help Ross!

Now I have restored all the accounts, I want to claim ownership.  I tried the "gam user US...@domain.com claim ownership 0B6EnzJKchNayNkJoclUwemVOcjA preview" but I get "ERROR: claim is not a valid argument for "gam"".

The folder has many subfolders, and the USERA account owns most of it, but not all of it.  I am trying to claim en-masse all the files owned by students.

Ideally I'd like to say "claim ownership for US...@domain.com any file owned by *@student.domain.com" and not have him claim other teachers that own files on domain.com if that makes sense.

I'm not sure what is causing the error above, I can't find any issue in my syntax.

Thank you!

Brian I need help migrating this machine from GAM to GAMADV-XTD3.  I thought it worked, but I must be missing the path for  gam.cfg for this.
gam info gives me:

GAM 5.33 - https://git.io/gam - pyinstaller

Thanks, .bashrc had a different directory for gam.cfg so I'm back in action.  It is working now, so I think I'll be able to do what I need.

Thanks again!
