I'm an Admin for our Google Apps domain.  Over the years, I used various tools to try and update user profiles in our Domain Directory, using my account for testing.  I have a field that shows up at the very bottom of my Directory Profile in Contacts called "Private Ext" with a test value of 5555 that I believe I entered a few years ago.  None of the tools I am currently using (Google Admin Console, Promevo gPanel, GAM) will display this field when I edit my profile.  Any ideas on how I can get rid of this entry?

I saw a post on Google's site that said that old custom fields would automatically be converted to a Schema when they introduced schemas, but GAM shows no custom schemas for my account/domain.  This value also does not show up when I run "show info user".

Thank you,
Mark

How did you navigate to the screen in the screenshot?

Mark,

Do: gam user <username> show gplusprofile
Does the field show up in the headers/data?

Mark,

If you click on the Private Ext text, does a trash can icon appear to the right of 5555?

Hello Ross,

This screenshot came from my Contacts view in my Inbox.  It's what everyone in the organization sees for my Directory contact.  This area is read-only in this view, so no trash or edit icon shows up.  When I go to Manage Domain or gPanel to edit my profile, this field doesn't exist there.

I tried the gam user <username> show gplusprofile and received this result:

User: mark.la...@xxx.org, Service not applicable/Does not exist (1/1)
id

Mark,

The data must be in the Global Address List; try the following.
gam user mark gal false
gam user mark gal true

You'll be removed from/added to the GAL, but now your entry should be populated from your current user definition.

I thought that would really do it, but no luck.  I removed myself from the gal, verified on another computer and with another user with cleared cache, re-added myself to the gal, and the Private Ext field came back.

I may open a ticket with Google.  Not really a big deal at this point since it's just effecting my record.  I was just trying to understand where this data was stored in the data structures and how to manipulate it.
