Has there been any discussion about adding https://developers.google.com/gmail/api/reference/rest/v1/users.history/list functionality to be able to see what a user has done with specific emails?

The use case for this would be, for example, to see if a user manually tagged something as spam, or if they synced with a client (i,e. outlook) that then moved specific messages to spam

Thank You
Frank

History wouldn't tell you whether the client did it automatically or if the user did it manually.

Have you tried looking at the email log search? It does offer some details about actions taken on messages post-delivery.

Jay, while it wouldn't explicitly say that this was done manually, it would indicate timing, so we could look, for example, to see if there was a delta between when the message was "inserted into mailbox" and "marked as spam" - and we can also look for the creation of "Thread-index" headers to see if the message has been pulled into outlook - so yes, there would still be some inference that would have to happen, but a lot less

The problem with the email log search, is that it shows the delivery process, and then the "current state", but not timestamps, or what happened between delivery and "current"

History responses do not contain a timestamp:

you can see the order in which things were done in the mailbox but you won't be able to see times at which they occurred or even if they occurred 5 minutes or 5 days ago.

I must have mis-read the documentation, and over-inferred information from some of the discussion I've seen around it. Thank you for clarifying
