Hi.  We are trying to combine our staff and student workspaces and merge them all into our staff workspace.

In following the guides for Advanced GAM, I am stuck on the following issue.

When running:
gam user jsmi...@student.com transfer drive jsmi...@staff.com

I ger the following error:
user: jsmith123@staff, service not applicable/does not exist

Per the guide, I did create a separate config folder for the student domain and authorized everything fully.

Please assist if able.

Thanks,
Kenny Tate

You cannot transfer drive ownership between Workspace instances, not just in GAM, in the UI too.

There really are two options:

1) Do it as a copy instead of a move

2) Use shared drives, as follows:
a) Create a shared drive on the destination Workspace instance, b) share it with the user being moved on the source Workspace instance
c) On the source Workspace move the files belonging to the source user into the shared drive
d) On the destination Workspace, move the files back out of the shared drive.

And yes, both are painful. Extremely. Sorry to be the bearer of bad new!

What would be the workflow in GAM commands to copy the drive contents through all of our users?

Thanks for the info.

1)  Does the copy involve also setting up a shared drive?  Or can GAM be used to copy?

2)  Do the users themselves initiate that copy or as an admin do I have the ability to do that in bulk?
