 The correct advanced advanced gam syntax is:

> gam update group <groupEmailAddressHere> update <member|manager|owner> <memberEmailAddress>

So for your example the correct command would read

> gam update group exampl...@example.com update owner us...@example.com

Also be sure you are using the latest version of advanced gam currently 6.67.02
