Sending Email from Google Group

to GAM for Google Workspace

I'm running GAMADV-XTD3 6.08.04

I am the owner of a Google group "support" and can send emails from that group using Gmail.

I'm trying to do the same using GAM. I've tried a couple of different options but none work:

gam group support sendemail to dale.courtney subject "Test" htmlmessage "<p>Test</p>"

gam user support sendemail to dale.courtney subject "Test" htmlmessage "<p>Test</p>"

Is this even doable?

A quick follow-up question. I would like to use GAM to see the messages that were sent from our support@ Google Group account. This works for my personal account:

gam user dale.courtney show messages query 'after:2021-11-14'

But I am unsure of the syntax for doing the same for a Google Group email.

Hi Dale,

I think you just add list:<Group Email Address> inside the query.

gam user dale.courtney show messages query 'list:sup...@your-domain.com after:2021-11-14'

Although I would use print insted of show and add todrive at the end to create a Google Sheet of the info.

Try that and see if it gives you what you want. And you can add countsonly on the end to just see the number of messages.

Hi Dale,

I get different results depending on whether I use from: or list:. From what I can make out the list: catches all the emails sent to the group (mailing list) email address. Whereas from: just shows messages from that exact address.

For example we have a server set up which has a from: address set to a group address, so these only show in the from: query. Whereas the list: query shows these emails along with other messages sent to that group address.
