to GAM for G Suite
Hi Guys,

I wasn't able to find a prior post on this topic, but for bulk operations to add a user to multiple groups, when running the following command (gam csv ./filename.csv gam update group ~Groupname add member ~User), it kicks back a msg, "ERROR: 409: Conflicting requests. Please try again - conflict."

The csv has a total of 18 groups and successfully processes 11 groups. The remaining seven groups continues to fail even if I recreate another csv and manually entering the group address and user's email.

The csv file reads close to this (using Atom);

Groupname,User

I've also tried;

Groupname,User
group.1,first.last
group.2,first.last
group.3,first.last

The groups do exist, have been created by a Super Admin, and I do not see any errors being logged in the reports on the Admin Console. Am I hitting a quota with the number of groups I can add a user per minute, quarter of an hour, or an hour that is preventing me from completing this task at one go?

Thanks,
Cody

Cody,

This new error started showing up yesterday.
What version of GAM do you have?

Ross

Hi Ross,

Interesting. For me, this is the third time since April 15th. I'm running GAM 4.65 with python 2.7.15 on macOS.

Should I update GAM to 4.82?

Thanks!
Cody

This is a first... running gam update group gro...@domain.com add member first...@domain.com kicks back the same error...

Updated GAM to 4.82 and still getting the same error message when performing the above methods.

So, from the Admin console; I just tried to add the user to a group from their profile and G Suite is now throwing up errors;

Can't add user to 'Group'. Please try again.

Tried to add the user to the group from the Group profile and I get this...

Can't add 1 member to 'Group'
The following member could not be added to 'Group.' Please try adding them again:

Cody,

You ned to try cutting down on parallelism.
Set GAM_THREADS to a small number (<5) and try again.

Hey Ross, Totally forgot about this, but thanks! I set this to 5. Other than performing bulk operations to see how many processes are being used, how can I verify the number of threads that will be used?

Cody,

The number of threads is the minimum of the number of users you're trying to process (basically the number of data rows in the CSV file) and the value of GAM_THREADS.
Gam says Using N processes... when it starts a parallel processing command.
