[GAM] Calendar Subscriptions

We have one Master Calendar at our school. The public iCal address is used on our public website. The secret address in iCal format was provided to faculty so they can view events only pertaining to them. I would like to automatically subscribe all of the students to the public version and subscribe the faculty to the private version. I’m not sure which commands to use because I keep getting errors when using the Address in iCalFormat.

I plan on using this for students because it appears that all private events show up as “Busy” with no details:

Gam user stu...@olgchs.org add calendar Calen...@group.calendar.google.com selected True

What do I use for the faculty since I do want them to have access to view the private events? The following does not work.

Gam user fac...@olgchs.org add calendar SecretAddressInIcalFormat.ICS selected True

Any suggestions? I figured that once I get the command correct, I can do it in bulk via a csv.

So nobody has any experience pushing the secret iCal address to people? I would love to avoid having people do this manually.

Secret address isn't for sharing with people.

You can share the master calendar with groups or target audience containing students (free/busy only) and faculty (reader). After they subscribe to the calendar using the same command, the teacher will be able to see the event details.

Not sure I understand how to do that and get the results I want.

If I were to share with the faculty group or share with the student group. Which permissions would I select?

A student should be able to see all details associated with this event because it’s listed as Public

A student should not see any details associated with this one. Faculty should be able to see all of these details.

In order for teachers to be able to see the private events, they would need writer access (make changes to events), which may have other undesired outcome.
