Google Drive Changes log support?

I’ve been reading the pages at https://developers.google.com/drive/api/guides/change-overview and https://developers.google.com/drive/api/guides/about-changes.

If I’m reading it correctly, it *sounds* like this might potentially offer functionality that would allow us to get a record of a user’s actions in terms of sharing their files with other folks, which would be perfect for doing the “hey, this stuff is going to disappear because we’re deleting the owner’s account” warnings to collaborators.

Am I correct in my understanding of what this change log does? If so, is there any support for it in GAM?

Gam can pull various drive/doc events: create|delete....  As an example this will pull all of the shared drive creates:

> gam config csv_output_row_filter "doc_type:regex:'^shared'" csv_output_header_filter "name,actor.email,doc_id,doc_title,doc_type" report drive event create

The trick is to figure out the activity app you want then what the event symbol is.  I believe the acl change event is "apply_security_update", but honestly it's difficult to figure out.  For some guidance look here:

I find it's sometimes easier just to hop on the admin console and filter drive events until I find the event I need than go back and compose a gam command.  Although I've found some events that gam doesn't recognize, e.g. "change_shared_drive_membership" .

Ross and I looked at this together, and it doesn’t seem to be as useful as I had once hoped it might be. I will continue poking at it, and share if I come up with anything useful.
