Google Reseller account (separate domain)

Years ago we became Google reseller. Google recommended us to use subdomain as a reseller, something like reseller.company.com instead of company.com. so we did.

Since then, company.com is one of the customers of reseller.company.com 

Is this how you guys are also using it for your company (and reselling purposes)?

From what I see GAM requires paid Google account, however, reseller.company.com is not (as it's just for reselling purposes).

Yes that's how they initially recommended setup so as an early partner we did the same with the subdomain setup as a totally separate workspace (then GoogleApps) account.

Like yours, this was a free account, now referred to as Google Apps Legacy Account.

I can confirm that GAM works in full on a legacy account and all the reseller functions operate as expected.

Depends on what you need to do. You can't run every gam command with client access (what you can do as an admin). Service account access will work regardless of which account was used to create GAM Project.

If you are looking to administer your own reseller domain with GAM, not every command will work because you are on legacy G Suite domain.
