Hello All -

Does anyone have a GAM command that will transfer a user's Group Ownership to another user.  re:  An Employee leaving the company, we want to transfer the Ownership of the Groups he was an Owner of to the user taking his place in the organization.  Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks for the quick response, I've been scouring the wiki for answers.  Looks like there might be a few steps to this process.  I was hoping that there was a single command for the procedure - BetterCloud used to have this functionality, and I was figuring that it was running GAM commands from the backend.  Do you know if there is a command for list Groups a User is an owner of?  The user in question is a part of 60-70 Groups, so I'm trying to avoid manually determining his Group Ownership.

And yes, it'd probably be a several-step process, something like:

Get the groups a user is a member of

Add a new owner to each group (note that a group can have more than one owner, so make-before-break is probably a good idea)

Remove the old owner (or just delete the old owner's account)

Thanks for the input Ross.  I'm more concerned with transferring the user's Group ownership, rather than the user's group membership (I realize that the new user would need to be a part of the group in order to be an Owner of the Group).  If I could list out the Groups that the departing employee is an "Owner" of, then apply Ownership of those Groups to the new user, that could be a step in the right direction - However, I not seeing a GAM command for listing the Groups a user is an "Owner" of.

This will give you a csv file with the data your need.

Are you on Windows, by chance?

GAM itself may not be able to do this, but, if on Windows, I can probably get you something in Powershell that would accomplish this
