Adding contact delegates and getting "d Failed: Request contains an invalid argument"

Hi Folks,

Just to start off -- I suspect this may be Google related rather than GAM, but wanted to ask here (I see folks have reported this on occasion in the past).

We have an automation that creates mailboxes that are accessed only via delegation.  Last week, the automation started failing when adding contact delegates to the new accounts (it uses the API, and may just call GAM -- not my automation, I just clean up after it).

When I try it with GAM on one of these recently created mailbox, I consistently get this error:

gam user <mailboxid>@andrew.cmu.edu add contactdelegate <validuser> (or <validuser>@andrew.cmu.edu)

User: <mailboxid>@andrew.cmu.edu, Add 1 Delegate

  User: <mailboxid>@andrew.cmu.edu, Contact Delegate: <validuser>@andrew.cmu.edu, Add Failed: Request contains an invalid argument.

BUT gam <mailboxid>@andrew.cmu.edu print contactdelegates works without an error.

I can also use Gam to successfully add contact delegates to existing accounts.

Anyhow, I suspect this is one of those "google's got a bad index out there somewhere" things (hence a support ticket), but wanted to double-check here first for any suggestions. (Plus that will help with some traction for the support ticket, I hope)

Hi all,

Is there a resolution for this? We're also getting "Add Failed: Request contains an invalid argument" when trying to create a contactdelegate.

We're using GAM 7.25.01.

Get 7.27.03, then do:

gam config debug_level 1 redirect stdout ./debug.txt <put the rest of the command here>

Send me privately the command and debug.txt.
