All -

I'm wondering if there's a way to export/print/view Shared Drive creators via GAM. I'm able to see every other type of membership (manager, fileorganizer, etc.) - but "creator" seems to be missing. Here's what Google had to say regarding the subject:

"You can export this information into a CSV file by going to the Drive Audit Log and use the Event filter and choosing Create. After that you can choose the item type to be Shared Drive. After this has been done, click Export (it should be located on the top right). You can choose to export the current columns into a CSV files.

Please keep in mind that the information can only be exported for 6 months back as our reports do not show information older than 6 months."

Has anyone been able to export a list of Shared Drives and their creators via GAM?

Any/all help is greatly appreciated.

-Tom

Thanks for the reply, Ross! However, this isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

The outputted TeamDriveOrganizers.csv lists all Shared Drives and their organizers (all good there). I'm looking for the user who created the Shared Drive, which in theory would only have one result per drive. This is different than anyone who currently is an drive organizer.

Ideally - a timestamp of when the Shared Drive was created, along with the user that created it is what I'm looking for. Could it be an API limitation? "Creator" doesn't seem to be a valid call on anything I've been able to find (but you're the expert here).

Thanks again.

And, as Google Support told you, that information is only available for 180 days, where after older data in the logs are cleared.
Unless you export the logs to BigQuery, or do regular exports to local log files.

So any Shared Drive created before September of 2020 has no such information available.

I think Google may be changing that because of the recent changes to EDU, and how some were abusing it (e.g. Create a Shared Drive, add an external member, and remove themselves). For most of my Shared Drives in a test domain, creator information is visible for all Shared Drives except for two (creator is in "archived" status). I don't think this information is visible via the API.
