Using GAM3.2
We have a mixed naming of google apps account: Us...@domain.com us...@domain.com
We are using an app which is case sensitive with google accounts.
I tried: gam update user Us...@domain.com username us...@domain.com
Although the command goes through without error, this does not seem to work.. I don't see the change happen on the Google Admin audit report.
I've tested by changing the first/last names and that is successful and I can view it in the audit report.

Am I missing something?

Google's servers are probably seeing the change in case only as a non-update and ignoring the request.

Try doing:

gam update user Us...@domain.com username user1-...@domain.com
gam delete alias Us...@domain.com
gam update user user1-...@domain.com username us...@domain.com
gam delete alias user1-...@domain.com

Yes, that's a pain in the rear :-( Also note that there is some chance that the account will bounce mail if anything is recieved during the renaming, do it off hours...

Thanks for the quick response. Just tested and works for me.

Jay, I was able to rename the users but kept seeing the aliases on the autofill when I compose emails. Discovered from Google that this procedure created a secondary email use...@domain.com in the Contact Information field in the user's Profile. Browsing through GAM I didn't see a command to delete the secondary email.
Any suggestions?
