A few Google Drive files end up with broken metadata for the last modified date and display the date of 1969, 1970, 1979, 1980. We confirmed a bunch of files as being current and not older than one year.

We intend to use Google Vault for data retention, but our policies will delete these files with broken metadata. This might not be a past event; it might be a recurring one.

What is the best way to mitigate this?

You could update the modifed time of the affected files to a specific date.

Create a CSV file BrokenModifiedTimeFiles.csv o the affected files with at least these two columns: Owner,id

gam redirect stdout ./FixBrokenModifiedTimeFiles.txt multiprocess redirect stderr stdout csv  BrokenModifiedTimeFiles.csv gam user "~Owner" update drivefile "~id" modifiedtime yyyy-mm-dd
