exporting mailboxes to mbox files?

I realize that GAM 3.71 is... old ;) and that "No support is provided for these commands going forward."... But:

Last year and each year before that it worked perfectly fine - i was able to use gam audit export requests and then download mbox files for each user's mailbox. It was a nice and cheap (free!) way of making a yearly mailboxes backup or just before deleteing some users.

But this year this old version of GAM just doesnt work. Even gam info domain is broken - nothing happens, not even an error message.

I tried setting up old GAM from scratch, but it seems something, i guess on Google side, changed so much it no longer works.

Is there still some way to use audit export requests/downloads?

You can try using the current version of GAM to create a oauth2.txt that will work for the old version (maybe).

newgam oauth create scopes https://apps-apis.google.com/a/feeds/compliance/audit/,https://www.googleapis.com/auth/admin.directory.user.readonly

will tell the new version of GAM to use the Email Audit scope and the user read scope and should give you an oauth2.txt that works with that old version.

Sadly, it didn't help :( oldgam seems to be unable to "talk" to Google - no matter what command i run, it just finishes w/o any error or other message

C:\GAM\audit>gam info user stanislaw.smolski

i press enter, and after like 0,5s i just get
C:\GAM\audit>

Can Vault be used in a similar way, to export full mailboxes? I never used it.

Well, yes, absolutely. Vault (and a new version of GAM is the better, supported way of doing this. See:

So i tried Vault - and i ran into an issue. Vault export gets stuck at 95%.

1st i read that a) export might be too big and b) i should use mbox format instead of pst.

So i tried smaller export (5 users) and mbox, and it still gets stuck at 95% :(

Is doing one user per export not (with ~300 users) safe, i'm not going to hit any Vault limit?
