Basic Questions to get the Google App Engine

Hi,
I have any question before I decide to use Google App Engine for deploying our Apps.
I read the Google websites, but it does not make sense of me, sorry I am a newbie.
Is it necessary to have the Google Cloud Platform to get the Google App Engine?
I thought, the Google App Engine ist free, but the Google Cloud Plattform is only free for 60 days?!?!

Hi Markus,

Some Google Cloud Platform products, including App Engine, have daily "free quotas"; most others do not.  See https://cloud.google.com/pricing/ for details.  For example, under "app engine" at this page you'll see that the "Free quota per app per day" is 28 instance/hours; for extra instance hours beyond that pricing is $0.05 / instance / hour -- so if an app was using, e.g, 32 instance hours per day, the charge would be 20 cents per day (5 cents, multiplied by the 4 instance hours in excess of the free quota of 28).
