Sorry if this is a silly question. Is there way to find out who is the owner of an appspot domain? I need to contact one but I there is no contact information linked from the pages.

No there isn't. If the appspot domain links to a custom domain (example.com) then you can look up WHOIS data to find out the owner, but the appspot subdomains don't reveal their owner.
