hi all.

I build a vm with standard options and a public ip.
for testing pourpose I setup an nginx configured as proxy to my site hosted on another provider.
ports 80 and 443 open, all test ok
Now the problem:
Some hours after config  dns with correct entry to public ip of the vm,all communications beetween vm and original host are lost. (all subnet of site are locked out not only single ip).
all other connection are ok. (tested from my site and google vm).
Non warning and no communication about reaching some limits.
Now, question: exists a limit on network communication to verify?

Mauro.

Hi,

There is no limitation on ingress/egress traffic to a compute engine VM, I suggest to that you try the following troubleshooting steps:

from GCE VM :

ping {remote host ip}

If you can ping but cannot connect to port 80 or 443, it could be a firewall issue[1], try adding a rule to allow HTTP communication on port 80 and 443 on both GCE VM and remote host.

If you can ping the VM but cannot ping the domain name from your remote host, check your dns A record if it is propagated correctly[2] as usually this takes some time to propagate (up to 24 hours).

Sincerely,

Hi Khalid. Thanks for your support.
I'll do supplementary investigation in configuration and firewall. Probably a mistake in some configuration.
