call for option to remove auto-gzip

This is just to give a bug some attention. Like every non-recent bug, it is dormant. (What happened to Google tackling older bugs, as announced once.)


Some content can be served smaller when compressed offline now, through zopfli. (I already do this on Storage, where it works as expected, but would like for static HTML as well.) And there is a not insignificant performance penalty of about 20-30ms per 10KB on F1.

Hey pdknsk,

Thanks for reviving that thread. We're working through all kinds of old issues, and in such a large issue tracker, it's not guaranteed that each issue will see updates within a timeframe that every user would ideally desire, but we're also willing to receive "pokes" on specific issues like this, if users find them particularly important. I've replied to your latest comment in the thread with requests for more information to adequately determine what behaviour you're observing. Feel free to respond in that thread and we'll be happy to look into it.
