Google Cloud SQL down?

At 1am ET my VM connection to Cloud SQL over SSL decided to stop connecting and will not allow a connection.

Did google make changes/updates?

Has been working fine, no changes, then BAM! Won't connect to ....

Getting: Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2026): SSL connection error .....

There were no issues. Are you still seeing this error?

Correct, the issue continued -- no fix --- We've now stopped using the Cloud SQL after trouble shooting all day yesterday.  We've tried the painful process updating the mysql client on the vm to 5.7 but that then would not work with updated versions of php mysql.  No solutions had us bring the database local to the vm.  Very sad and frustrating weekend.  Especially since we didn't make any changes to any of our instances.  Like I said, it was the middle of the night when I got an alert that the db was down -- it wasn't down, the vm and cloud sql instance simply stopped talking.

When turning off the force ssl connection and then trying to connect to cloud sql db over terminal without ssl, we could connect - but also couldn't connect via ssl when the force ssl was turned off.  Then obviously, no ability to connect when turning on force ssl.

The power of having cloud sql it obvious.  The total unpredictable 1am on a Saturday night change in something outside of our control and has no fix has had me nauseous for the past 24+ hours.

Any clues to what happened on Google's end would be helpful ... but we've already begun the process of retraction from the service rather than hope.

Did you check if the SSL certificate expired and / or tried a new SSL certificate? Can you do a private reply with more details of the error?
