App Engine no longer delivering Sendgrid emails

Hi all, I am using Google's App Engine and 6.4 of the Sendgrid-Node SDK. I submitted a ticket to Sendgrid and they were able to confirm that everything looks ok on their end.

Whenever I go to send an email on App Engine via the email.send API, I get a SUCCESS, but the email is never delivered. Locally, the email sends. No errors in my app logs, or on App Engine. This was working a couple of weeks ago, we didn't change anything.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reporting this. To clarify, are you sending the emails as detailed by this document.  To clarify, is the receiver of the emails the same as before the issue began? Can you specify a date where the issue began? I checked our known issues but was unable to view any that could have caused this issue.

Hi Julie,

Thank you for replying.

I did follow that document when initially setting up sendgrid in my project. To be sure, I did double check to make sure everything conformed.

July 3rd was the last time I received emails from App Engine. I tested using myself as a receiver (I always received them during my testing) and all of this functionality works perfectly when I do it locally.

The only thing I did notice just now, is my trial ended and after that the emails stopped working on App Engine. I did go back and ensure that billing was enabled for my project. For what it is worth, I am on the free tier and I am not hitting my quotas.

Hi Anthony,
Are you on the free tier of SendGrid?  All my emails to @hotmail bounce because the IP SendGrid use has been blacklisted.  I contacted them and they said there is nothing they can do and suggested I move to a paid tier.  You can check your bounces on the admin panel under Suppressions -> Bounces.

Hi Ash,

I tried this with a free and paid Sendgrid account (they are two different accounts). Per your suggestion, I checked the Suppressions anyway and my messages were not listed in invalid, blocks or bounces on either account.

Hi all,

I was able to resolve my issue and I will post it here:

When my credit/free trial expired, that also canceled the account linking with Sendgrid. Sendgrid support saw that the emails were being processed on their end (hence I didn't get an error in the logs), however GAE requires a google specific Sendgrid API to be enabled to successfully deliver the email.

Re-following the document Julie posted, I was able to re-sign up for Sendgrid, generate new API keys. I did not re-generate the keys the first time when Julie posted the document, however it is required.
