Hi,

We are deploying our nodejs code in GCP app engine. We are unable to recover code from app engine instances. Can you please provide us a document or steps to download node js code from App engine ASAP.

Thanks & Regards,
Madhav Krishna

Hello, Madhav

Can you please clarify what you mean by "recovering your code from App Engine Instances"? It is a little unclear what you are attempting to do. With more information, it would be helpful so we do not mislead you.

If you mean that you would like to be able to download your Source Code from App Engine Standard, then it seems generally[not just nodejs] that tooling has been deprecated as per this Doc[1]. If you mean something different, please let us know. We will be glad to help once we have more information about what you are trying to do.

Hi,

We are trying to download nodejs code which we deployed in App engine. We didn't find any document to download NodeJS code. Is there anyway to download the Nodejs code from Appengine. If it is possible we need a document.

Thanks You

Hi Madhav,

I also experience same situation as you, last year. You can't download back the code from GCP.

However, you can go to the source tab at GCP and copy back your code, one by one on each file. See my thread below:

Hello Madhav,

The Google Groups link that Fuad has shared discussed most of the queries you have raised. However please note that the standalone legacy SDK and appcfg tooling has been deprecated as of July 30, 2019 and shut down on August 30, 2020, so the solutions suggested based on this is no longer available.

As this Public Issue has suggested, the present option is to use Stackdriver Debugger to view the source code and perform debugging like analyzing breakpoints. Users can copy and paste the contents to your local file.

This is recommended not to rely on the Google Cloud Platform to preserve source codes. The most popular option is to use SVN or Git (e.g. Cloud Source Repositories).

There is a Feature Request at the moment to implement appcfg like feature with Cloud SDK to download the source code.
