Minimize Frontend Instance Hours

Trying to keep my frontend instance hours below the 28 hour "free" allowance.

Here's part of my app.yaml:

runtime: python27

threadsafe: true

api_version: 1

automatic_scaling:

  max_instances: 1

  min_instances: 0

But I am still going over. Any advice?

In my case I included only this:


automatic_scaling:
   max_instances: 1

This will make sure I will have an entire day on free tier.

Hi Matt

Your configuration should limit the instance number, but if you are often deploy an application you can get out of free hour limit.

"Basic or automatic scaling: accrual ends fifteen minutes after an instance finishes processing its last request."

I think this may be the problem. My typical workflow is that I app deploy then delete the old version manually in the dashboard. I am guessing I get a 15 minute accrual every time since it spins up a new instance to serve the new version.

Would specifying a version with "-v" prevent the extra accrual? That way I can replace the serving version without having to go in and delete the old one.
