How can we enable interactive shell in app engine on the deployed url

The interactive console is part of the Remote API, which is only available for 1st gen python (Py2.7). There is a note in the docs, implying that the Remote API is available for 2nd gen runtimes, but that is not correct, and I've submitted a bug to correct it.
