FCM vs Real time database

currently we are using FCM message and want to replace with 

https://firebase.google.com/docs/database/ios/read-and-write.

is it possible,

To avoid notification

It seems FCM is for messaging and the other for manipulating data. Nevertheless, here is the link for Firebase Support page.
