Notice from Cloud Platform: Upgrade to the latest version of the Google Stackdriver Monitoring Agent

I have received a noticed regarding: Upgrade to the latest version of the Google Stackdriver Monitoring Agent

The notice stats that:

"As we communicated earlier, starting on Tuesday 6 September 2016, Google Stackdriver Monitoring will begin to roll out a new alerting system for agent metrics which requires the latest version of the monitoring agent to be installed on your VM instances. 

... "

I am not using flexible environment, just standard environment and I would like to know if something is needed from my part, or the update will take place automatically in this case (to Enable Monitoring API v3)?
