Help in writing script for Web search

I want to write a program to search on internet using the keyword (name Person/Organism/species and important metabolites related to different reactions). Can anyone tell me which language is preferable. I know Perl and Matlab.

Well, I am personally a huge fan of Perl. I can tell you that it will work just fine with the Google Custom Search API, but Google doesn't provide a library for it.
