Hi

I am not a programmer but am looking at news content for a new stock market site i am launching and was hoping the people here could help answer a few questions.

1. Is it possible to pull new from here for a specific topic / company into a third party website. Ie all news for " APPLE "

2. When this news / story is displayed, does the whole content stay on our website or would it be a few lines of the story, than then open to the whole story on another website?

Any information would be most appreciated.

Regards

MP

The News Search API would allow you to display news results for any given keyword search (e.g., "APPLE") on your own site. You could display a snippet of the content from the actual news story, but the story itself would remain hosted on the original server. Your users would have to click to that site to view the entire story.

BUT the News Search API is on the verge of discontinuation. It was deprecated in May 2011, and it is therefore set to stop functioning completely at any time. Therefore, I would strongly advise that you not utilize it in any new application at this time. There are some alternatives out there. To MP,

1.  Yes, you can pull news content for a specific company from a third party website.  I used to pull daily prices for stocks.  There are many tools to help you easily extract specific content with little or no programming (Chickenfeet for FireFox, for instance) or you can just set up an RSS feed.

2.  It all depend from where you are getting your content.  Most likely, you will have a summary and a link to the content.

Regards,

Dalila
