Hello,

Can I use the google custom search api to search the entire internet. Or is it limited to one or several websites that I need to specify?

Regards, Patrick

You can set your CSE to search the entire web by setting it up with one or more sites and then, once it's online, going into settings and removing those sites. That said, you should still not expect the CSAPI's results to match those of a standard google.com search. There will be some differences in the resultset.

Hello,

thanks for your answer. Why are differences in the results? And what exactly are the differences?

Regards, Patrick

The exact differences will vary for each query. But in general, you can expect that a CSE/CSAPI search won't return all of the results a google.com search will, and the results that it does return may be in a different order than a google.com search.
