Funding Choices IDFA explainer message rejected by Apple

Hello,

I still see the Admob docs to prepare for iOS 14+ app tracking transparency are recommending to use the UMP SDK and Funding Choices to display an IDFA explainer message.

Apple is however now rejecting all app updates that use the Funding Choices IDFA explainer message, because it is not allowed to display a permission request before the iOS permission request.

I have raised the same issue some time ago on the ima-sdk forum: https://groups.google.com/g/ima-sdk/c/06Oxxk2VyFY

Perhaps the docs should be changed, so not every developer will run into the same problem?

Hi Bart,

Thank you for bringing this question to our attention. I believe they are keeping most of this up as a good amount of the information is still valid at this moment. But I will definitely bring this to my team to look into especially regarding the IDFA message as blocking pushes to Apple.

I had the same issue

What I did is,

I removed the IDFA message from Funding Choices

And prompted Apple's ATT dialog manually when I get the status unavailable for notEEA users, and Obtained for EEA users from UMPConsentForm

And I got approval from the Apple

The Funding Choices message text and button text can be modified. You may use any language that fits.

In January, the message ATT message switched to a one button message, if you are using an old message you can create a new one. Please get back to us if you still have an issue.
