Interstitial Ad not reflecting Admob Settings

I've added a cap to my Interstitial at no more than 1 per 5 minutes and also only of the Video type. 

However, in my app I'm still getting an Interstitial every time I call for it, and it's an Image type.

I've noticed that the cap is working in Xcode Simulator but when I build to my device, the cap is not working. On the simulator I have intractable mini game ads, not sure if that's "video".

I can confirm it's still happening today. I got 3 different interstitial ads after only 30 or so seconds in between.

Hi Sem,

This is expected given your settings. I was able to load only one Video Interstitial in a span of few minutes on an actual device (iphone 6S). Can you confirm whether that is what you are noticing, and if not, can you send us Charles logs to look into this further?

Greetings for the day.


I'm Mohit, an IOS developer.

We are also facing an issue for IOS platform where our client reported issues for iPhone 7& 7 plus. Here in India, whenever we tried installer it's working perfect but in USA(Client side) client reported that Frequency Capping is not working as per expectation/ settings/ configurations as ads shows every time when ever user triggers button/icon from mobile (From that button in mobile, user navigates to another screen where the interstitial full screen ads need to show). This happens again and again which means full screen banners appearing every time whenever we going to that particular screen.

Looking forward for your kind assistance over above mentioned issue.

Can you send us your Ad Unit ID  to look into this issue further? Also, can you explain us a bit more about the intended behaviour and actual behaviour to understand your issue properly.

Hi Deepika,

Please find ApUnidId for which frequency capping not working

We have set the frequency capping for the above appUnitID

Ad unit-level: 1 impr / minute
App-level: 1 impr / 2 hours

We have checked the same at our end and its working fine as per frequency capping setting,but one of my client in United States checking the same in IPHONE 7 and he is facing issue with this.He is getting continuous ads on button click.Please suggest us over this isssue

Hi Mohit, 

Can you make sure that the device that you are testing on does not have Limit Ad Tracking enabled. Frequency Capping would not work for such devices.

Hello Deepika,

I have the very same problem. I set 3 sets of interstitial ads for both Android and iOS devices. 
My settings was 2 ads per minute, however, it's not reflecting my settings. It's actually pretty random, sometimes it shows 4 ads in a row, no ads for a minute then 5 ads back to back.

I tried to change both ad level and app settings, nothing seems to work. I'm getting 1 star reviews cause of ad frequency, how can I fix this?

Hi Levon,

I'm a teammate of Deepika and I'll be assisting you on this.

When implementing Frequency capping, please note of the following caveats.
  • A change to frequency capping, such as changing the cap from two to three, can take up to a day to take effect. 
  • A slight server delay can occasionally result in the frequency cap that you've set being exceeded.
That said, could you test if you can replicate the same if you test your Ad Unit Ids with our sample apps (AndroidiOS)? However, given that this is an old thread, could you create a new thread with your new findings and from there, we'll continue with our investigation?
