Lots of ANRs with fullscreen ads

Ever since I upgraded the google mobile ads sdk to versions 20.x.x and above, alot of ANRs are experienced randomly when interstitial ads are shown or being shown. This manifests as the interstitial ads appearing to freeze. I have experienced this for quite some time now, I didnt bother to raise concern as I thought the issue would be fixed with time but this isn't the case. This is currently proving to be a bad experience for my users.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We would ask if you can share with us via the "Reply to author" button with a simple sample of your app. Along with any steps to replicate the issue. If you also have any crash reports that would help us to look into this or even Charles logs if this is happening with the same ad.

Below are screenshots of the crash logs

The app can be accessed at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.napsternetlabs.napsternetv The steps to reproduce the crash are to start the VPN after which an interstitial ad is loaded. On random times, the interstitial ad may freeze and cause the crash. I personally experience this on a Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra 5g running android 11.

Thank you for sending over the screenshots. We would ask if you have been able to replicate the issue on one of our samples found here . We will be needing some kind of sample with your implementation that allows us to be able to test this out also. At the same time, are you able to get this issue without the VPN, as the security errors would be a concern to us as they might be causing an issue.
