Hello,

my question - is it possible to hide the gray "Test Ad" label displayed over the test ad banner in the iOS simulator?

Since I don't own a real iphone+, I have to use simulator to make app screenshots and the "Test Ad" label is apparently reason enough for rejection from app review. I know it is possible to photoshop it out, but for the future I would welcome the option to hide the label.

Hi there,

I'm afraid that removal of the Test Ad label is not currently possible via the Mobile Ads SDK. Since iOS Simulators are automatically tagged as Test Devices by the SDK, they should display the Test Ad label by default.

However, I understand your concern that your application is being rejected during your App Review, especially considering that screenshots from iOS simulators should be accepted as per the App Submission Guidelines. I would like to raise your suggestion to the rest of the team and check if it would be something that can be implemented in the future. But I am not able to guarantee if it will. I would suggest that you regularly monitor our Release Notes and our official developer blog for any news and announcements about our SDKs.

Regards,

Alright, I don't expect it is a priority, thank you for a quick information and consideration though.

Hi,

I am facing exactly the same issue. Is there any updates available?

Hi Ramsay,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We recommend, however, that you create a new thread for your inquiries so that we can assist you better.

As for your concern: we suggest you use a real device, as well as your own ad unit IDs instead of the test ads, when submitting screenshots for the App Store.
They should be able to display ads if your AdMob account setup has already been completed.

Ziv,

Thanks for the reply. It would be a nice feature to hide the "Test Ad" from the banner. Apple sometimes have stringent requirements, and requires screenshots on some hardware that might not be available. Is it possible to bring it up to the AdMob (product owner) and see if they can have it implemented in a future release?

Regards,
Ramsey Hassan.

Hi Sui,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I'm afraid that you will have to use a real device in order to remove the "Test Ad" label in the AdMob ads. You may also want to explore options outside the scope of the SDK (such as using Photoshop) in order to remove said label.

I think the best way from a design perspective is to have the possibility to have an option to disable the "Test Ad" label - even for the simulator. Since it is necessary to put several screenshots for different iOS devices + languages into the App store it is a lot of effort to remove with tools like photoshop the "Test Ad" label.

I'm also facing this issue. With more than 400 apps, taking screenshots for different sizes and languages.. It's a nightmare to do this manually because we can't disable this banner on the simulator.

Hi Brian,

Thank you for asking about this issue.

I can advise you that you can check out this link that shows you how you can pass it thru as an extra. If you add an extra that "suppress_test_label" with a value of 1.
