Hi there,

Please see attached how Admob native ad media views look in my app.

Video - the video does not catch the whole size of the given space and centered while a solid background in the back.
Image - there are duplicated blur sections on the sides of the main image.

Is this optimal usage of the native media view?
if not, how can i make it look better?
Is there a way to show the ad video or image on view with width and height as i wish? or to know the media size in advance and set my view size accordingly?

Thanks in advance,

Hello Jonathon,

Thank you for contacting us. I was able to make several changes to our sample app and see that the is width and height set for the MediaView is being followed. The main image asset (which is provided from the ad server) seems to follow an aspect ratio (to maintain the visual quality of the image) that results to the proportional spaces outside the ad. The spaces gives the impression that the MediaView is not following the width set but in fact the space are part of the MediaView's content. Could you try varying the MediaView background colors and see if it follows the width set on your end? If this does not address your concern, could you please elaborate on the specific size options that you're looking for?

Thanks for your feedback,

As your advice, i colored the bg of the media in light red, as you can see attached:
The video is centered and borderless, however the image is not.
Can i have the same effect of the video on the image, meaning removing the blurry borders on the side and keeping the aspect ratio of the image.

btw, the media size in xml is wrap_content on width and height.

Thanks.

Hello Jonathan,

With the recent MediaView changes, our team is currently looking into different options on how to use scaling options for image assets when using MediaView. I will keep you posted on any further updates regarding this.

Thanks,

Hello Jonathan,

This issue has been fixed. The fix should go live in the upcoming releases of the SDK. Please keep an eye on our release history page for more updates.

Thanks,

Fixed how exactly?
By providing the aspect ratio?

HI AB_LB,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this issue.

Based on reading over the older post. And the various comments that have been posted towards tthis over time. Would tend to point me to the Adaptive/Smart banners./ Which are more inclned to fit into unknown banner sizes more easier.

Here is a link to the Adaptive Banners documents that shows how an issue like this could be resolved. there is also a Smart Banner which you can see here. The biggest way they help to fix this is by having the ads be scaleable to given sizes to increase the quality of the ad for the User. There is not much you would have to do, as the banner itself has a lot of the scaling done within it.

Those kind of ads don't support customization at all, and don't support video ads either.
They use WebView, which is quite heavy and has its own issues.
I can't even set its background, so it doesn't blend nicely with the app.
You should at least offer setting a background for those kind of ads.
