I cannot seem to find a work around for this issue and would appreciate any suggestions.
I am a track cyclist and analyzing my power output on the graph below is my main interest. However, as a I use my mouse to track the readings, as soon as I get to the peak (which is the part I am most interested in), my mouse hovers over the magical area that triggers a pop up menu (not sure if that is the right term) for curve smoothing.

There is probably something obvious I could do, but I sure can't find it!

Thanks for your help.

Reveal controls blocking access to the upper part charts is a problem, not only for popups but also for the upper handle to change the scale, currently it is unavoidable, AFAIK.

In this case you could change to non-stacked mode, show power curve as a single curve and zoom to the interesting part for better analysis as explained in https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/UG_ChartTypes_Activities#special-features-of-the-performance-chart

Thanks very much. I will give your work around a try. It sure helps to know that the issue is unavoidable

I think the popup menu is pretty much never used these days by most people. It was a UX experiment that seemed to work, but actually is just annoying.
I vote we remove it-- it will also vastly simplify some of the charts code.

Anyone disagree?

I think reveal useful for quicker access to simple settings s.t. show/hide Overlay,  Stacked, Data Table and show/hide the console in R/Python charts.

I found it is easy to free the left side for access to y-axis scale knob just changing 2 to 200 in:
But it doesn't look pretty that way and I don't know how to make it symmetrical, if there would be a simple way to restrict it to a smaller center area, it could be an alternative to make it less annoying but still useful.

Otherwise I am ok about removing it, it is just a couple of clicks more for this settings.

On my Macbook it triggers at about 75% of the power chart height so cant get the cursor anywhere near the top of the recorded data so is a real pain. If it triggered about 2mm from the top it would be OK. Removing it is no issue for me.

I do use this functionality quite a lot. Where would this toggle be
available if not in the Pop UP Menu? It's not part of the chart settings
at the moment.

Best regards,

I created an issue to follow up: https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/issues/4256, considering the new User and Overview charts don’t have reveal controls, I agree with Mark it would be better to move show/hide console to chart settings in R&Python charts and remove/disable reveal controls for all charts.
