Dear all,

Thank you very much for this wonderful SW.
I recently bought a powermeter and decided to delve a little deeper in the functions of the SW and I have a question.

I recorded an interval training this morning :
GC_01.png

Notice that the W'bal is decreasing with each interval.
I wanted to better compare this drops so I activated the interval comparison function.
Result is the following :
GC_02.png

I have the impression that the W'bal is recalculated form 20 at the beginning of each interval making the comparison of the status of "oxigen debt" of each interval impossible.

Is this the expected behavior ?

Yours,

Hi Pietro, when I first started with GC last year I did not understand W'Bal but a bit of googling soon told me of the derivation with it's relation to critical power and lot of googling gave me more insight into it's use.
I am not sure how you would get the oxygen debt after each interval, I tried a finger oximeter to see what information that provided but found the body pretty resilient to allowing oxygen saturation to decrease much until you really started to crash. The oximeter only had 1% steps and I could only get it down to about 93% before I gave up.

Dear Steve,

thank you very much for your answer. I'm sorry if mention of the oxygen debt confused my point.

In the first graph you can see that the W'bal start at different values at the beginning of each interval since I did not fully recuperate.

First interval : 17.2
Second interval : 11.4
Third interval : 6.8
Fourth interval : 5.3

On the other hand in the interval comparison mode all W'bal lines start at 20 as if the calculation is reset.
That was not the behavior I was expecting but maybe there is a reason for this.

Pietro

Hi Pietro.
I suppose to perform the comparison of the change in W'Bal the start points must be brought to a similar starting point, although in my interval comparison it is not the exact same starting point so I do not know the exact method of determining the start.

I have noticed though that the colours of the lines in the charts during comparison do not match the colours assigned against the intervals in the interval list below. I don't know if this is a bug or if there was never any intention for them to match. If you look at your HR comparison the yellow line starts near 150 and this is obviously your first interval because it has the distinctive ramp up, but in the interval list the first activity is marked pink/violet.
I have exactly the same colour difference in my interval comparison.
Steve
