Hi
for a few months I recognized that I do not get any map at all anymore. I am not talking about the tile server problem, I solved that before successfully. Now the screen remains blank after a flash or two and no server setting produces any map, I do not get anything (warning) with google either. Not even the track line. Occurs with 3.5 & 3.6 in Linux. A windows 3.5 version tested in a VM works fine. Any ideas?

You can try running GC with —debug command line option, then look for errors reported at the launching terminal. Also Help > About > Version details may help to understand the context.

Gracias Ale
I have been running the 3.6 app image but this prompted me to do a thorough clean up and now running the rpm version the problem has gone away. I assume it was a dependency problem.
Thanks anyway
Ciao

great: this also was the solution to the problem that my ant+ stick wasn't getting any reading, everything was stuck at "searching". Now I get all but one device paired and reading. Just my Assioma pedals are only showing power, not cadence. Is there a fix to that? If not I will just dig out my old cadence sensor...

Hi
the problem of not having any map displayed persits; I only get a map with the rpm version, which causes all other sorts of problems.
--debug comes back entirely clean, no messages. Same for the log if I start it normally.

It looks like Qt 5.14.2 WebEngine issue on that platform, what happens if you add a Web Chart (https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/UG_Special-Topics_Web-Chart) and use it to access Google Maps or Strava?

BTW, the problem may be caused by going back in Qt versions without a cleanup, especifically if you are using the same athlete library and athlete when going back and forward between versions.

same: nothing displayed. Works in the rpm version.

Does that make sense with the exact same behaviour on two different machines? I would have to have had the identical going back in QT version (which is possible, but not likely).

I mean nothing at all, no web page, just a blank screen.

I mean to run the rpm and then the AppImage over the same data, this is a no-go since it means to go back in Qt versions and WebEngine store of newer versions not necessarily can be read by older versions.

In one of your machines you could remove all GoldenCheetah traces, uninstall the rpm, remove settings and data (see the FAQs for location) and use v3.6 RC1 AppImage from scratch to see if the problem is related to this, or a more general issue with that OS version.

BTW, if other users are using openSUSE Tumbleweed, feedback would be welcome.

Ok, I'll try that. However I only installed the rpm because I had the map problem with the app image in the first case. But I suppose a proper clean up now and then does not do harm...

If that is the case, and that OS version needs Qt5.15 or higher, I am afraid we have no prebuilt ready to use solution.
Official builds are on Qt 5.14.2 due to https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/issues/3611 and this will not change for v3.6 release, AFAIK.
The alternative is to build from source as explained in https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/blob/master/INSTALL-LINUX

Trying to do exactly that right now. When I get to compiling make returns:
Core/DataFilter.h:34:10: fatal error: gsl/gsl_randist.h: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
  34 | #include <gsl/gsl_randist.h>

a search for gsl_randist does not return anything.

It would be nice to get to a conclusion on this thread, and ideally, get feedback from other OpenSUSE users.

I have been building GC and using the appimage on Leap 15.2.
I can't train with this machine but can run a robot. Which map screen are we talking about, if it is the map tile in train view then that tile does show in train view in both versions of GC but I will have to run a workout with a map to see if it is functioning correctly. I won't be able to do this until tomorrow or the day after.

That map is showing fine in my build of GC on Leap 15.2.
Also the map in train view works fine with the robot.
