Graphics/Image example programs

Hi,

I am trying to get my programs up-to-date. I am looking for simple graphics/image example programs for X11 and OpenGL. I have difficulty running my old programs in Ubuntu 20.04 and newer versions.

It can be as simple as something like what we see here:

But I need something that displays images and accepts mouse input, etc but not vector graphics (say, in OpenGL) for now. Can you please provide some pointers?
