The windows of the house in Margao that belonged to António Caetano Pacheco and his son Joao Manuel Pacheco were made of oyster shells or scales. Oyster shell or scale is “carepa” in Portuguese. So they were called “janelas de carepa”. They were still there in perfect shape years ago when I was a child.
