Do you know what this award offers to the selected candidates? If financial help, then how much?

I wonder whether this scheme doesn't violate the Constitution by not incorporating caste-based reservations. Most (if not all) of the selected candidates seem to belong to dominant caste backgrounds. It doesn't seem to have any economic eligibility criteria either, going by some of the selected candidates whom I know personally.

The scholarship provides a one-time grant based on the location of the institution: 

Studies in India: 8,000,000 USD. 

Studies Abroad: 25,000 USD.

The same idea struck me, but then I felt it probably  had something to do with the 2024-25 application cycle, the processing of which could have taken time. Needless to say, this is only my guess, and I'm in no way connected with that scheme. Just sharing a press note which came my way, as it might be of relevance to some on the GRN too. FN

If it is any help, scholarships are always prospective and rarely retrospective.

As is well known, prospective means: "Forward-looking: The application and decision process happen before the academic period the scholarship covers (e.g., applying for a scholarship in high school to fund college tuition the following year)."

Perhaps an official clarification is in order.
