Goa University is instituting an Annual Lecture series in the memory of Late Damodar Dharmanand Kosambi, on the occasion of his 116th birth anniversary on 31st July 2023. The inaugural edition of the lecture shall be given by Prof. Lakshmi Subramanian, Visiting Professor of history, BITS, Pilani Goa campus, on the theme 'Studying contested pasts: Challenges of reading and writing history' . Dr. Subramanian is an eminent historian and has worked on maritime and business history., history of Indian ocean and cultural history of music and performance in South India.
The lecture is being instituted by the D.D.Kosambi School of Social Sciences and Behavioural Studies, Goa University, named after the eminent Goan polymath, mathematician, historian and Indologist, whose work inspired a generation of scholars, given the vastness of his knowledge and expanse of his intellectual pursuits. The lecture will be held at the Auditorium, Faculty Block E (New Science Block) at 11. A.M on 31st July 2023. All are invited to attend.
