PS: Search the archives also for "Portugal", which mentions the 1755 tsunami, etc.... [In 18th-century Portuguese and European accounts, it was usually described as a “maremoto” (seaquake), “dilúvio” (deluge), “inundação” (flood), or simply great sea waves. The Japanese term tsunami only entered international scientific vocabulary in the late 19th–20th centuries.]

Many thanks for sharing the link to the Danish-Halle archive, which I encourage everyone to explore. This corpus of documents has been of great use to me in the past, especially the missionaries' comments about the use of the Portuguese language in (South) India.
