More seriously, it would be lovely if a Goa-book exchange could happen at the global level. Though I know that your postal rates aren't as inexpensive as they are here.
Talking about postal rates in India, this is what I shared with a group in another context just today:
*Hint on sending books via post* 1. Postal services work well within India. Quite inexpensive to post books (one side open, marked *Printed Matter, Printed Book Only*) within India. 2. But some post offices are not aware of this facility, which costs Rs1 per 100 gms (plus Rs17 if you want to register it). 3. They will tell you all kinds of things about the book needed to be "registered" with the authorities, etc. This is not true... applies only for magazines. 4. Also, SpeedPost rates are pretty reasonable, esp within Goa. Speedpost, however, is distance-related. Meaning, it's cheaper to use SpeedPost within Goa than say, sending a packet to Guwahati. For other forms of postal services the _one country, one rate_ system applies. 5. There are special packagers who offer to pack books and other parcels. My favourite in Sanjay Teli in a _gadda_ opposite the Mapusa post office. Ph 94 21 15 00 27. He is open on most days till 3 pm. There is also a woman packager just at the entrance of the Mapusa post office. Another person in the lanes (Opposite Venite) packs parcels in Panjim, and yet another at a former typewriter repairer in the same lanes in Panjjim. But they tend to be costlier, in my experience. Nothing like Sanjay Teli at Mapusa (please tell him I was saying good things about him... the guy really works hard, and I've known him for donkey's years)*

On my end, I am looking for old Sportstar editions starting from December 1989 to through the 1990s with Sachin Tendulkar cover stories, and other magazines with a Sachin cover story, an edition I may not have. It is for my personal collection and I am willing to pay the cost price. I could be contacted on 8007217310 and I am based in Margao.
