045 - FINANCIAL AID FOR PUBLISHER

Question Raised by Shri. Chandrakant Shetye

WILL the Minister for Art and Culture be pleased to state:

(a) furnish names of the books with the author who applied for Financial Aid for publishing their books from Goa from the year 2019 to 2023; 
(b) furnish names of the books, name of the author who received the Financial Aid for publishing their books from Goa from the year 2019 to 2023;
(c) the duration this current financial aid scheme will be operational and
if discontinued, the reasons thereof;
(d) whether any other scheme will be implemented for Goan authors, if so, give details of the date of commencement and salient features of the planned scheme;
(e) whether any budgetary allocation was proposed for such a scheme in past Assembly Sessions; if so, give details of the demands; and
(f) if not, reasons for the same?

QUESTION	ANSWER
WILL the Minister  for Art & Culture  be pleased to state:	By  Shri Govind Gaude,  Minister for Art and Culture;
(a) furnish names of the books with the author who applied for Financial Aid for publishing their books from Goa from the year 2019 to 2023;	Sir,         there is no scheme available for authors at present. However, the books are purchased from publishers of Goan authors under the scheme ‘To provide Financial Assistance to the Publishers for publishing books of Goan authors’;
(b) furnish names of the books, name of the author who received the Financial Aid for publishing their books from Goa from the year 2019 to 2023;
(c) the  duration this current financial aid scheme will be operational and if discontinued, the reasons thereof;	the scheme for authors was discontinued   from    2016-17, as standard of literature received under this scheme was not up-to the mark as per the opinion of book selection committee;
(d) whether any other scheme will be implemented for Goan authors, if so, give details of the date of commencement and salient features of the planned scheme;	No.
(e) whether any budgetary allocation was proposed for such a scheme in past Assembly Sessions; if so, give details of the demands; and
(f) if not, reasons for the same?	as department is implementing the scheme ‘To provide Financial Assistance to the Publishers for publishing books of Goan authors’, under which books of Goan authors are purchased from publishers.

Sounds like a Question Period answer from a MP ...the real answers can be found if a Freedom of Information Request is filed. Really surprised the Committee did not produce a report and make this public on their website or present one to Parliament to be placed in the record. Maybe they did.
