Hello!
Anyone here using GnoclWebKit?
I'm looking for a possibility to use a browser-frame in a tk-application...

Regards,
Matthias

Hi Matthias.

Thanks for the interest in this package.

The code for GnoclWebKit is out there although it might experience some issues as it was coded against a much earlier version of gnocl.

As you might be aware, Webkit does not support all the features that you might expect in the latest browser. So, it might be worth your while looking at creating a Chrome app and then embedding this into a Tk window as its container.

I've not tried it myself yet, but it does look as thought this would be a more up to date route to take.

Later today I will fish out the GnoclWebkit code and take a look to ensure that it works.

Regards,

William

Hi William,

thanks for your quick response!

Yes, i also thought that having a chrome-App would be a good idea.
But it seems that until now, nobody tried to build one. :(

If you have any information about how to build GnoclWebkit it would be great if you could give it to me.
The downloadable package gnoclWebKit-0.9.95.tar.bz2 contains only a 32bit gnoclWebKit.so  (i run a 64bit wish) and i haven't found any information on how to build.
If i get it working, i would give it a try.

Regards,
Matthias

Hi Matthias,
I presume that you are developing on Linux and not Windows or MacOS?
As a standalone Tk only project you may want to consider creating your own wrap around the webkit library.
Are you looking to simply display HTML or need other features such as video? Webkit won't offer all browser features (mind, the last time I looked was in 2011!).
Regards,
Will

Hi William,
actually our Software runs cross-platform (Windows, Mac, Linux) so i've got the full load of pleasure...
For simple HTML i use tkhtml - but now i want to add reports created from a BI-tool (https://www.metabase.com) into our software.
So because of the browsers they support (https://www.metabase.com/docs/latest/installation-and-operation/supported-browsers) i'm afraid the only solution would be using the crome-APP.
Anyway - if i've get GnoclWebKit running, i would give it a try.

Regards,
Matthias
