Carb, or EFI Systems
The filter above.  Is a 2 micron carb filter from what I understand . Was installed 5 weeks ago in a Qjet. The adhesive that held the steel ends on. Came loss. Then contaminated the carb.  So why did that filter come apart?  Could this same thing happen to an EFI filter?
Next. If a Qjet required a 2 micron filter according to GM. What does my GM, 454 TB require that I have. I have  in line filters just before my two 13 LBS. EFI pumps at the rear now.  Most small in line filters seem to be 20 micro. As I see it. Isn't my in line filters just sorting out the big rocks?  Shouldn't I have a smaller micron filters to protect my EFI pumps, and TB?  Are some of the EFI pump issues. Because our pumps aren't properly protected? Does that GM  TB have a filter/screen? I think of our 78 Royale. Like Apollo 13. Failure IS NOT an option. Been that way for 16 years. Never been towed. YET.

This might be of interest to those on the GMC net. Maybe someone could post this there. I'm monitored by Billie M.

Sir. Just my WAG but I would think the micron size change was to allow the alcohol that attached to the water in the tank to pass into the combustion chamber.

As to the WAG. Do you know of a SWAG? It's a Scientific WAG.  ( Wild Ass Guese )  GRIN.
I'm not getting the change thought. That 2  micron carb filter hasn't ever changed. And  most owners that have a carb. Just use the 2 micron carb filter only. As to water. I've seen water in the float bowl of a carb. That got pass that 2 micron carb filter.  So how do I protect my GM 454 TB  properly?  Yes. Yes. I get annel over the simplest things. Sorry to all.  Bob Dunahugh

I never think of myself as being a very scientific guy.     I installed my efi system pretty much the same as many other who have thousands of trouble free miles.

As for a fuel filter,  what point are you filtering too much and causing restrictions??

Most cars I know(my old vw, my wagoneer,  my honda cars) always filter after the pump.  Why is that now a problem??
