Hello troop members and families!

You should have received an invite in the mail for the virtual Badgerland Silver Awards Ceremony on Sunday at 3:30 pm via Zoom! I am following up with the troop to hear who will join us on Sunday!

WHERE WE'VE BEEN: We started our project as 7th graders, and are still implementing additional phases of our project today (ex. the village of Mcfarland is planning to dig holes for our QR code signs in the next two weeks).

And although the complexity of our project and Covid delayed our overall timeline for completion, we can still celebrate all of your hard work in achieving the 2nd highest GS honor -- the GS Cadette Silver Award.

CEREMONY DETAILS

Sunday, Apr 11, 2021

3:30 PM Central Time

JOIN VIA ZOOM https://zoom.us/j/95001911363

Meeting ID: 950 0191 1363.  Passcode: GSGold

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

  • Wear your tan sash. If you don't have your sash, feel free to wear a white or black shirt.
  • During the ceremony, each girl will have a moment in the spotlight to unmute and talk a little bit about her project. Tabitha, our host, will introduce the project (and we’ll have a slide with pictures up) – but we want to hear about the project from the girls! We suggest practicing ahead of time so she’s ready for her moment in the spotlight. No sure what to say? Here are some examples:
    • What was your favorite part of the project?
    • What’s a new skill you learned along the way?
    • What was the hardest part of the project?
    • Do you have any future community service projects you want to work on through Girl Scouts?
  • You CAN reference pages 4-10 in the attachment to see what you already wrote in response to these types of question
HOW THE CEREMONY WILL WORK?
  • The Silver Award portion of the event is from 3:30 to 4:30. We’ll open with the promise and law, hear from our CEO, then get to honoring troops one-by-one by project. We’ll go in order of Troop number, from lowest to highest – wrapping up with our Juliette (individually registered Girl Scouts). After all Girl Scouts have shared, it’ll be time for the pinning ceremony. We’ll take a few minutes for all Silver Award Girl Scouts to be pinned at the same time. Girls should ask a family member or special adult ahead of time to do the honors.

 PREPARING FOR THE CEREMONY

  • She should plan to wear her GS sash/vest during for the Awards Ceremony. (Get it ready now and make room for that Silver Award Pin!)  If you don't have your sash, feel free to wear a white shirt.
  • Her Silver Award Pin should be arriving in the mail in the next few days, if she hasn’t already gotten it. Have it ready for the ceremony!
  • For the ceremony, we ask that you change your Zoom screen name to your girl’s first name followed by her troop number (ex. Vicki H – Beaver Dam).
  • Turn on your webcam! We want to see the girls when they speak about their project and receive their pin. (NOTE: The ceremony will be recorded. If you are not comfortable having your girl being recorded, you may leave your webcam off).
  • Girls can choose to use one of our Girl Scout Virtual backgrounds during the meeting (including one especially for Silver Award Girl Scouts!).
  • Attendees will be automatically muted to prevent any background noise.
  • Sorry for the short notice! Hope you can make it!
Liz

Here is the final report -- you can review pages 4-10 to familiarize yourself with your previous answers to questions about the project.
A power point is also included that describes what we have done.
